Earlier this month, I announced that I would bring my Clouds 365 Project to an end on June 30, 2013— the end of Year 4. My reasons were all valid, and my intentions were sincere, but perhaps I didn’t really understand how everyone would react or how I would take the news.

SO many of you responded with good wishes and encouragement, I can’t thank you enough for the support that I have received day in and day out from my friends, family and this community of cloud enthusiasts. But I also heard from people who really didn’t want the project to end yet. I was truly touched by all of the comments and emails. I found that I could really understand how they felt. With this outpouring from the community, my own heart was saying, “Not yet.”

I have more to learn from my project. Maybe it’s that I’m not really to give up the everyday interaction with this incredible community and observing the sky everyday. Whatever it is, you were right; I just needed the push I got from all of you.

I feel energized and am looking forward to trying new things. I will be searching out new places to shoot and new ways to take my weather photography to the next level.

Starting on July, 1 2013, the Clouds 365 Project will have a Year 5.

And I guess all I really have to say is thank you. Thank you to the community that inspires me, and thank you to my wife and daughters who are willing to plunge back into the project with me. I’ve learned that being alone with a stormy sky is just one part of the Clouds 365 Project. The rest is how we all interact around the images that come out of those moments.

Thank you, and see you soon to kick off Year 5!
